HBO Offered $250,000 to Hackers to Prevent Leaks: Report


HBO reportedly made available $250,000 (around Rs. 1.6 crores) to the hackers who have leaked unaired episodes, scripts, and particular facts so far, according to an e-mail despatched to a variety of publications.

According to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, HBO termed it as “bug bounty payment”, contacting it aspect of a programme where ethical hackers ended up rewarded for acquiring complex shortcomings, and bringing them to HBO’s focus. HBO has declined to comment on the issue.

Variety claims it spoke to a supply close to the HBO investigation into the hack, who was ready to confirm the authenticity of the e-mail. The hackers’ ransom demand is “6 months salary value in bitcoin”, which specified their assert of $12 million (around Rs. 76.5 crores) per year, arrives to about $6 million (around Rs. 38.2 crores).
